The subject site is located at 155 Central Street in Tonopah, Nevada 89049. Based on information obtained from the Nye County Assessor’s Office, the site comprises a 678 square-foot single-family detached residence constructed in 1931.
A Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) was completed in August 2017. The Phase I recommended further environmental investigation to identify any potential underground-ground storage tanks, releases of petroleum hydrocarbons, asbestos containing material, and lead based paint on site. A Phase II ESA was conducted in January 2019 and identified the lead-based paint and total petroleum hydrocarbons contaminated soil on the site. In November 2021, an Analysis of Brownfields Cleanup Alternatives was developed to address the contaminated soils. In July 2022, a concrete pavement barrier was constructed to cap the contaminated soil. The concrete barrier is utilized as a parking lot for the library and the nearby convention center. The 678 square-foot single-family detached residence is not currently in use.
